The Best Friends Network is made up of thousands of public and private shelters, rescue groups, spay/neuter organizations, and other animal welfare groups — all working to save the lives of dogs and cats in communities like yours across the country.
From Friends of the Animal Shelter (FOTAS)
Friends of the Animals (FOTAS) is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1990 to provide volunteers and funding in an effort to nurture and find permanent new, loving homes for Southern Oregon dogs and cats in need.
FOTAS provides volunteers to work one-on-one with dogs at the local County shelter. Their efforts help reduce kennel stress, provide training, and increase the possibility of adoption to get them out of a stressful shelter environment.
FOTAS runs a robust foster program for both cats and dogs, where animals are raised in loving homes, provided with rehabilitative and preventative medical care, and spayed/neutered before adoption. These animals are adopted directly out of volunteer foster homes.
Our mission is to recruit and train volunteers and donors who will help to save lives by increasing pet adoptions in Southern Oregon, improve the quality of life for the Shelter's animals, promote spay and neuter, and facilitate outreach and educational activities about the humane treatment of companion animals throughout Jackson County.
