The Falls at Trolley Square is one of Salt Lake City’s newest and most beautiful event spaces. The state-of-the-art center is known for hosting celebrations, including weddings and receptions, reunions and awards ceremonies. And soon, it will be the spot for a different kind of special event — the NKUT Coalition’s Cool Adoption Cat Fest, sponsored by Best Friends Animal Society.

The Cool Cat Adoption Fest, which takes place at The Falls at Trolley Square on Friday, August 5 from noon to 7 p.m. will feature more than 150 adoptable cats and kittens from six NKUT Coalition partners.

“We are so excited to host this event on behalf of our coalition partners in such a gorgeous, and not to mention, unexpected place for an adoption event,” says Kim McDaniel, communications manager for Best Friends–Utah.

Event center helps homeless pets

When Trolley Square managers decided they wanted to host a pet adoption event, they looked no further than Best Friends–Utah. But the event center didn’t just offer complimentary use of the space, it also has been an integral part of marketing and promoting Cool Cat Adoption Fest.

“We were surprised and honored when they reached out to us,” says Kim. “And they have been more than supportive of Cool Cat Adoption Fest so far. They really care about their community and recognize the importance of saving homeless pets in Salt Lake City.”

A festival with an important purpose — saving lives

Cats and kittens will be available for adoption at reduced adoption fees starting at $25. And all pets will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Through the event, NKUT Coalition partners, including Best Friends, want to make adopting a cat or kitten possible for everyone.

“Saving cats is the key to making Utah no-kill,” says Kim, referring to the importance of adoption events like the Cool Cat Adoption Fest. “The more cats and kittens that get adopted, the more room we make in shelters for cats who need deserving homes.”

NKUT Coalition partners participating in the Cool Cat Adoption Fest are Davis County Care and Control, West Valley Animal Services, Nuzzles and Co., Humane Society of Northern Utah, the Community Animal Welfare Society, and Salt Lake County Animal Services.

“Some of the largest shelters in northern Utah are coming together for the Cool Cat Adoption Fest at one of the best event centers in the city,” says Kim. “It should be a great day to get us closer to our goal to Save them All.”
