Angie Embree

Chief Information Officer

As Chief Information Officer for Best Friends, Angie Embree is responsible for aligning the strategic plan for information technology with the strategic plan of the organization and in support of the Save Them All call to action and 2025 no-kill initiative. This role involves working with all Best Friends staff members to help them understand how to use technology and to educate them on where technology can improve processes that contribute to saving more lives.

Angie is also leading innovation with technology in the animal welfare sector, focusing on transport, keeping pets in their homes, adoption and marketing of animals, fostering and rehoming. This involves working with technology vendors, other national animal welfare organizations, Best Friends Network partners, and our regional and national programs.

Before coming to Best Friends, Angie spent 25 years in technology leadership (12 of which were in higher education at Drake University) and 13 years in the telecommunications industry.

Angie lives in Kanab, Utah, with her rescued standard poodles, Topper and Sebastian, and her Great Pyrenees mix, Sophie. She is a long-time supporter of and foster volunteer for local shelters and rescue organizations in the communities where she has lived. Angie enjoys reading, learning new things and getting things done.
