Support Los Angeles Animal Services with Best Friends & ASPCA
City of Los Angeles residents: Thank your city council for unanimously approving this historic lifesaving collaboration
July 1, 2026: The Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved the landmark proposal of collaboration between LA Animal Services, Best Friends Animal Society, and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
History has been made for Los Angeles Animal Services (LAAS)! As part of the proposal, Best Friends and the ASPCA will be supporting LAAS with $14 million over three years.
Not only will LAAS benefit financially, but both organizations will be offering their expertise and staff members to train and implement sheltering best practices. This partnership between Best Friends and the ASPCA will ensure LAAS is fully staffed and able to provide robust services to the public.
Ultimately, this landmark partnership will lead to more lives saved.
