Celebrate National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day
In honor of National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day, April 30 – May 2, Houston shelters and animal welfare organizations are uniting to find homes for pets in need.
Each year, more than 40,000 animals enter Houston shelters — enough to fill Minute Maid Park. Texas is also nationally ranked second only second to California as the state with the most dogs and cats killed in shelters. Pets in our community are counting on you to help save their lives.
April 30 at noon: Tune in to find your best friend!
Tune in to @BFAS_Houston at noon on Instagram to see adoptable pets from across the city! The virtual event will be hosted by KPRC’s morning news anchor Lisa Hernandez and meteorologist Justin Stapleton.
April 30 – May 2: Adopt a pet and save a life.
Adopt a pet from one of the listed participating shelters and you may receive a discounted adoption fee. Call or visit the shelters’ websites to determine process, requirements and promotions for adoption.
Can’t adopt? Foster a pet through Best Friends Animal Society in Houston or an animal shelter near you and provide much-needed temporary care to a pet in need.
