National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day promotion for Houston

Celebrate National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day

Adopt your new best friend April 30 – May 1

As we celebrate National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, animal shelters and welfare organizations throughout Houston are uniting for pets in need. Every year, more than 40,000 dogs and cats enter Houston shelters — enough to fill Minute Maid Park! And sadly, more dogs and cats are killed in Texas than any other state in the country, just because they don’t have safe places to call home. You can help by adopting or fostering a pet.

Below is a list of shelters participating in National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day. To celebrate, adoption fees are being waived and other special discounts apply April 30 – May 1. Call or visit each shelter’s website to determine the adoption process and requirements.
