25 Ways to Help Save Them All
Alongside you, Best Friends Animal Society collaborates with thousands of shelters, rescue groups, and other organizations across the country to help save the lives of homeless pets. Working together, we will make the entire country no-kill in 2025. Here are 25 great ways you can help Save Them All.
- Become a Best Friends member with a donation of just $25 or more. Your gift will go straight toward saving lives and will get you the bimonthly Best Friends magazine, filled with gorgeous photos and heartwarming stories.
- Adopt a pet from your local shelter or from Best Friends. Either way, you’re making a difference and giving a happily-ever-after to a furry best friend.
- Foster a pet. Foster homes give pets the extra love and time they need to find loving homes. Save a life and open your home to a foster pet.
- Spay or neuter your pets to keep them happy and healthy and to reduce the number of pets entering shelters in the future.
- Volunteer. Whether you give your time to pets at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, a Best Friends Lifesaving Center, or a shelter or rescue group near you, you’ll be helping to save lives.
- Visit our pet lifesaving dashboard to find out how your community is doing for dogs and cats and see how you can help make a difference where you live.
- Join a local 2025 Action Team to connect with people in your community who are working to save pets’ lives, or you can start your own team.
- Reach out to your local shelter or rescue group to support their work and help wherever there is a need.
- Participate in Strut Your Mutt, Best Friends’ fun walk and fundraising event that saves the lives of dogs and cats.
- Create your own personal fundraiser for the animals of Best Friends, and inspire your friends and family to save lives, too.
- Ask whether your employer participates in a workplace giving program. Many employers have matching gift programs that double or even triple employee donations.
- Donate your car to Best Friends. When you donate a vehicle that you no longer want, it helps homeless pets and it’s tax-deductible.
- Make wishes come true. Give toys, pet food, or supplies to your local shelter or rescue group, or treat the animals at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary with an item off their wish list.
- Become a Guardian Angel. Through a monthly contribution, Guardian Angels provide ongoing love and care to the animals when they need it most.
- Spread the word on social media. You can make a big difference simply by spreading the word about Best Friends and homeless pets on social media. Tag @bestfriends and use #SaveThemAll.
- Use your voice to save lives. Stay in the know by signing up for Best Friends’ email alerts about issues affecting animals in your area.
- Make a legacy gift. Including Best Friends in your will, trust, or other financial plan can provide you with tax benefits and ensure that animals get the love they need today, tomorrow, and for years to come.
- Sponsor an animal. Provide extra love to an animal who touches your heart.
- Give a memorial gift. Honor a special person or pet by giving a memorial gift.
- Get Best Friends gear to help spread the word. Shop the Best Friends Store for yourself and your pets. Your purchases will benefit the animals.
- Help community cats. Whether you help with trap-neuter-vaccinate-return (TNVR) program near you, become a community cat caregiver, or advocate for better laws, you’ll be making a huge difference.
- Drive for pets. Best Friends’ transport programs give lifesaving lifts to pets out of areas where they’re at risk and deliver them to areas where they’re more likely to find homes.
- Make a donor-advised fund (DAF) gift. A DAF gift provides you with the flexibility to support the animals while getting tax benefits.
- Shop the catalog of kindness. From kitten snuggle bundles to puppy packages, these symbolic gifts are both heartwarming and lifesaving.
- Donate appreciated stock, bonds or mutual funds and you’ll avoid capital gains tax on the securities you donate, receive an immediate tax deduction, and help the animals.
