Support pet-friendly bills in California

California residents: Ask Gov. Newsom to sign pet-friendly bills into law!

UPDATE 10/10/2025: Gov. Newsom has signed SB 312 and AB 516 (hooray!) but we still need your voice on the rest.

Six pet-friendly bills are on Governor Gavin Newsom's desk, and we need your help getting them all signed into law!

  1. AB 506: requires California pet sellers to disclose animal origins, health history, and bans nonrefundable deposits.
  2. AB 519: bans California brokers from selling dogs, cats, or rabbits bred by others for profit.
  3. SB 312: requires vet-issued health certificates for all dogs imported into California. – SIGNED!
  4. AB 516: clearly defines California veterinary scope of practice for technicians and assistants. – SIGNED!
  5. SB 602: allows California veterinarians to give vaccines and parasite-control medication.
  6. AB 867: bans unethical declawing of cats in California.

TAKE ACTION: Ask Gov. Newsom to sign the remaining pet-friendly bills into law. Sample language is provided, but we encourage you to customize your message!
