California residents: Ask Gov. Newsom to sign pet-friendly bills into law!
UPDATE 10/10/2025: Gov. Newsom has signed SB 312 and AB 516 (hooray!) but we still need your voice on the rest.
Six pet-friendly bills are on Governor Gavin Newsom's desk, and we need your help getting them all signed into law!
- AB 506: requires California pet sellers to disclose animal origins, health history, and bans nonrefundable deposits.
- AB 519: bans California brokers from selling dogs, cats, or rabbits bred by others for profit.
- SB 312: requires vet-issued health certificates for all dogs imported into California. – SIGNED!
- AB 516: clearly defines California veterinary scope of practice for technicians and assistants. – SIGNED!
- SB 602: allows California veterinarians to give vaccines and parasite-control medication.
- AB 867: bans unethical declawing of cats in California.
