Clef is a 1 1/2 year old female with soft gray and white fur, striking green eyes and the sweetest little face. While she may not be looking to be a traditional house cat, Clef has an important role she is perfectly suited for. Clef would love to be your working cat, thriving in an environment where she can come and go as she pleases. She is happiest when given space to be independent and a job to do -- keeping barns, wineries or warehouses free of rodents and pests. In return for her hard work, Clef asks only for a warm, safe place to sleep and regular meals. With those needs met, she will happily settle into her role while living life on her own terms. Clef is ready to take her place and keep things running smoothly.

Best Friends is working to end the killing of dogs and cats in U.S. shelters in part by getting more pets out of shelters and into loving homes.

We’ve come a long way since the first known city reached no-kill in 1994, and now we’re closer than ever to making the entire country no-kill. Of the roughly 3,900 shelters operating in America today, 1,300 of them are not yet no-kill, but nearly half are close with 100 or fewer additional pets to be saved, and we know what to do to get them there.
