Hi, I’m Loop! I’m a 4-year-old black and white gentleman with a soft heart, a gentle spirit, and a very sweet nature. I like to think of myself as the calm, friendly type—the kind of cat who makes a home feel a little warmer just by being in it. I enjoy the simple things in life: a cozy nap spot, a good window for bird-watching, and kind humans who speak softly and give nice chin scratches. I’m affectionate without being demanding—I’m happy to be near you, quietly keeping you company while you go about your day. One of my best qualities? I get along really well with other cats. I’m social, easygoing, and comfortable sharing my space, so I could fit nicely into a multi-cat home or be a gentle companion all on my own. I’m past the chaotic kitten stage, but I still have plenty of love to give and a sweet, playful side that shows up when the mood is right. Best Friends is working to end the killing of dogs and cats in U.S. shelters in part by getting more pets out of shelters and into loving homes.

We’ve come a long way since the first known city reached no-kill in 1994, and now we’re closer than ever to making the entire country no-kill. Of the roughly 3,900 shelters operating in America today, 1,300 of them are not yet no-kill, but nearly half are close with 100 or fewer additional pets to be saved, and we know what to do to get them there.
