Hi, I’m Bloom! I'm a 2-year-old black kitty with soft fur, bright eyes, and a heart that’s ready to blossom in the right home. I may look elegant and mysterious, but underneath all this beauty I’m really just a sweet girl who loves attention, cozy spots, and being near my people. I’m the kind of cat who will quietly keep you company while you work, nap beside you during movie nights, and politely remind you when it’s time for treats. I’ve got a playful side too! Wand toys, crinkly things, and zooming through the house for absolutely no reason are some of my specialties. But once I’ve finished my important kitty business, I’m all about curling up somewhere warm and showing off my excellent purring skills. I’m past the tiny kitten stage, which means I’ve already mastered the art of being adorable and sophisticated. Best Friends is working to end the killing of dogs and cats in U.S. shelters in part by getting more pets out of shelters and into loving homes.

We’ve come a long way since the first known city reached no-kill in 1994, and now we’re closer than ever to making the entire country no-kill. Of the roughly 3,900 shelters operating in America today, 1,300 of them are not yet no-kill, but nearly half are close with 100 or fewer additional pets to be saved, and we know what to do to get them there.
