The series spotlighted individual animals and their caregivers and raised awareness about severely abused, neglected dogs and dogs with special medical needs.

Many people were first introduced to the Sanctuary through National Geographic’ Channel’s TV documentary series DogTown.

DogTown is a documentary-style TV series that featured the stories of individual dogs in need and followed Best Friends caregivers, trainers and medical staff as they worked to improve the lives of dogs in their care and to find loving homes for them. Each of the 28 episodes follows the journey of several Dogtown residents through their triumphs and challenges.
