Adopters share how their pets are living the good life
Few things make our day at Best Friends Animal Society like hearing from adopters. In this round of updates, two kittens rule the cat tree, a Colorado gal hits the trails, a longtime companion still claims every person’s lap she can, and a pup adds a whole new heartbeat to his family’s home.
That’s the beauty of adoption: You set out to save a life, and somewhere along the way, that pet changes yours. Every adoption also makes room for another pet who needs a home, bringing us one step closer to the day when there are no more homeless pets.
Janet and LaToya, adopted by D’Ann
When they arrived home, Janet and LaToya wasted no time showing their different crazy kitten personalities. LaToya is the most adventurous, zooming around the house nonstop. She is very playful and loves launching herself from the tall cat tree right onto your shoulders, demanding playtime and petting. Janet is the most affectionate kitten you will ever meet. There is no escape from Janet’s cute little love nibbles all over your face as you pet her. At night, both kittens must be lying on your face while sleeping. Both kittens love their old grumpy cat friend, Mr. Kenny (pictured above with the kittens). They love getting cuddles, playtime, and bath time from Kenny every day, but naptime with their new friend is the best time of all. Janet and LaToya are continuing to thrive in their new home with us.
Willow, adopted by the Parker family
She is an absolute love and a true Colorado mountain gal now! We think she is living her best life out on the trails exploring, sleeping in, and having fun with her new pals. She has blended into our family seamlessly, and we can’t imagine our lives without her. Thanks to everyone at Best Friends for all the dedication, hard work, and love you provide.
Peep, adopted by Braeden
I’m happy to say that Peep is still going strong and is living a happy life, well taken care of. She’s still very active, playful, and never passes up an opportunity to make herself comfortable on someone’s lap or make herself heard. She has been a wonderful companion and best friend over these past six years that I’ve been lucky enough to be her owner. I’m always grateful to your organization that I was able to adopt her.
Biff, adopted by the Mingo family
We didn’t plan to adopt Biff, but the moment we saw him at the Sanctuary we knew he was coming home! He’s very protective and doesn’t even like us tickling one another too hard. He’s always up for a trip to the dog park and thinks he’s a lap dog, with a never-ending supply of kisses to give. Although he’s up for a walk anytime, he loves to veg on the couch too. He’s added a unique heartbeat to our home, so we’ll never regret stopping by the Sanctuary.

Let's make every shelter and every community no-kill
Our goal at Best Friends is to support all animal shelters in the U.S. in reaching no-kill. No-kill means saving every dog and cat in a shelter who can be saved, accounting for community safety and good quality of life for pets.
Shelter staff can’t do it alone. Saving animals in shelters is everyone’s responsibility, and it takes support and participation from the community. No-kill is possible when we work together thoughtfully, honestly, and collaboratively.
You can help save homeless pets
You can help end the killing in shelters and save the lives of homeless pets when you foster, adopt, and advocate for the dogs and cats who need it most.
Saving lives around the country
Together, we're creating compassionate no-kill communities nationwide for pets and the people who care for them.
