Our best friends are family

From teething woes to last goodbyes, we're here for every step of your pet's journey.

There’s nothing quite like coming home to the sound of a full house. From grateful purrs and swishing tails to excited squawks and more, pets fill our lives with so much joy. They see us grow through different stages of our lives and, through thick and thin, love us unconditionally.

Support your best friend through the different stages of their life. From puppyhood and kittendom to adulthood and beyond, if you have questions we have answers. Whether you need help with training and pet care, selecting the best food, finding the right pet supplies, guiding your pet through old age, processing the loss of your best friend, or commemorating the special bond you shared, we’re here to help.

We believe the best way to help pets is by supporting the people who love them, and we’re there for you every step of the way.

"The Love and Joy of Pets"

Pet adoption not only provides homeless pets the second chances they deserve, but it also provides people with loyal, loving companions who positively impact our health and well-being.

There are so many benefits of adopting a pet — for animals and humans alike: companionship, unconditional love, and unlimited snuggles to name just a few (of many).

You don’t have to be alone in your grief

We understand how devastating the loss of a pet can be, and we’re here to help you through this difficult time. From guided meditations to support groups, the path to healing is near.

Grieving the loss of a pet is a deeply personal process that’s often misunderstood. It can feel isolating and lonely. When the bond you shared with your pet leaves such a big imprint on your heart, it’s natural to feel lost, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to move forward. Finding the right support can be difficult.

Our collection of thoughtful resources is designed to help you process your grief and reflect on the light and love you shared with your best friend. Unwind from the grief with guided meditations focused on pet loss and remembrance, jot down happy memories in our special journal, watch our pet loss workshop, or find your peace through activities like memorial rock painting. You can also connect with others and find comfort in community through spaces like the Angels Rest Facebook group, where people who understand the depth of this loss come together with compassion and care.

However you choose to grieve — quietly, creatively, or alongside others — our resources are here to guide you through your healing journey.

Celebrate the life and love you shared with your best friend

Even in grief’s hardest moments, remembering the love and laughter you shared with your pet can bring comfort and peace.

Losing a pet is the hardest part of having a pet. But looking back on your pet’s life can offer comfort, warmth, and reminders of a love that never fades.

We offer several ways to honor the memory of a cherished pet. Create a digital memorial page to share their story with family and friends and honor your memories together. Order a wind chime from the Best Friends Store, with a loving engraving and soft melody that plays every time the wind blows to remind you of your best friend. Or choose to celebrate your pet’s life by creating a memorial marker or engraved brick to be placed at Angels Rest at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.

Hoping to comfort a loved one through their grief? Consider purchasing a special remembrance gift from our collection or pay a pet’s love forward by creating a memorial fundraiser for homeless pets.

Whichever way you choose to honor your beloved pet, we’re here to help you keep their memory alive.

Let’s be friends!

About Best Friends Animal Society

Best Friends Animal Society is a leading animal welfare organization dedicated to saving the lives of dogs and cats in America's shelters and making the entire country no-kill. Founded in 1984, Best Friends runs lifesaving facilities and programs nationwide in partnership with more than 6,000 shelters and rescue organizations. From our headquarters in Kanab, Utah, we also operate the nation's largest no-kill animal sanctuary — a destination that brings our mission to life for thousands of visitors each year.

We maintain the most comprehensive animal sheltering data in the country and make it accessible to the public — empowering communities with critical insights into the needs of their local shelters and how they can help. We believe every dog and cat deserves a home. And we believe that, by working together, we can Save Them All®.
