UPDATE 4/6/23: House Bill 1591 has passed the Arkansas legislature. We have one more chance to stop this dangerous legislation from being enacted. Urge Gov. Sanders to VETO House Bill 1591.

In July, Fayetteville joined more than 460 cities, counties, and states that protect pets and consumers by enacting humane pet sales ordinances. These sensible laws prevent inhumane puppy and kitten breeding mills from importing animals to be resold through local pet stores.

Now the puppy mill industry is trying to stop progress for pets and people with House Bill 1591, statewide legislation that would protect unethical breeders and prevent cities and counties from enacting similar ordinances. This would be a huge step backward for Arkansas.

TAKE ACTION: This dangerous legislation has already passed the Arkansas House and Senate. Please urge the governor to VETO House Bill 1591.
