Texas House Bill 410 would help keep pets and families together by standardizing pet-related housing charges.
Currently, landlords are allowed to collect both a one-time refundable pet deposit and a monthly fee per pet. HB 410 would limit the charges a landlord could impose to either a one-time refundable pet deposit OR a monthly fee. The monthly fee would be capped at $20 per pet.
