Urge your city council to adopt lifesaving ordinance changes.

The Las Cruces City Council is considering full implementation of lifesaving community cat programs - but local leaders need to hear from you.

Effective community cat programs utilize a combination of TNR (trap-neuter-return, where cats are trapped, spayed/neutered and vaccinated by a veterinarian, then returned to the location where they were found) and SNR (shelter-neuter-return, where community cats that end up at animal control are fixed, vaccinated, then returned to their outdoor homes).

These programs offer humane and effective solutions to outdoor cat issues. Shelter employees and volunteers also assist residents who do not want cats on their property via humane deterrent methods and by spreading awareness of the benefits of spay/neuter.

You can help ensure the City Council moves forward with implementing these programs. Urge your leaders to adopt an ordinance change that will allow TNR/SNR programs to operate effectively into the future.
