Win a Trip to Best Friends

Membership drive will mean more lives saved (and perhaps a great reward for you, too).
By Denise LeBeau

From what began 30 years ago as a group of friends providing a sanctuary for homeless, abused and neglected animals, Best Friends has flourished into a multi-faceted animal welfare organization dedicated to creating no-kill communities from coast to coast. As part of the organization’s work, Best Friends-Utah takes a holistic approach to helping the pets and people of the Beehive State by holding pet adoption events, offering low cost spay/neuter, a pet food bank and community cat resources, as well as promoting pet retention and facilitating adoptions daily through the Best Friends Pet Adoption Center in the Sugar House area of Salt Lake City. Best Friends seeks positive solutions to all kinds of companion animal issues, and to help realize these goals and more, Best Friends is launching a first-ever peer member recruitment drive.

Reaching out to help animals

We're asking Best Friends supporters to reach out and help grow the movement to Save Them All®. Every person who recruits 100 or more new members by March 31 will earn an all-expense paid trip to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. Just sign up 100 friends, neighbors or even strangers, and you’ll be on your way to the Sanctuary. We’ve made it easy with the bestfriendsmember.org website, where people can sign up new members via a personal recruitment page.

Kim McDaniel, communications manager for Best Friends–Utah, says, “A fundraising drive sounds intimidating and nobody wants to flat-out ask their friends for money, but it really is easy. Chances are you're already having conversations about your pets, about a happy adoption story you saw, or the NKUT T-shirt you're wearing. Just turn those conversations into invitations. Chances are there is a program or an event that Best Friends is involved in that they already care about. Invite them to put their money where their mouth is and make a difference.”

One program everyone in Utah should be excited about (at least we think so) is No-Kill Utah (NKUT), an initiative led by Best Friends Animal Society that joins together passionate individuals and city shelters into a coalition of animal welfare organizations dedicated to ending the killing of dogs and cats in shelters throughout the state of Utah by the year 2019. Utah residents interested in helping make the state a healthier and more pet-friendly place by supporting NKUT, can do so by joining this peer membership recruitment drive.
