Hi, I'm Chevron! I’m a 7-year-old black cat with a gentle heart, a calm presence, and a very affectionate nature. I really enjoy being around people and like to stay close—whether that’s lounging nearby, keeping you company, or checking in for a bit of attention. I’m a sweet, social guy who appreciates head scratches, chin rubs, and soft places to nap. I don’t need constant excitement—I’m happiest in a peaceful home where I can relax and feel included in your day-to-day life. I do like to “chat” a little now and then, especially when I’m greeting you or asking for some love. Think of it more like friendly commentary than constant conversation. Mostly, I’m about companionship. I want to be your steady little shadow, your cozy couch buddy, and your quiet source of comfort at the end of the day. If you’re looking for a loving, easygoing cat who just wants to be close and share a calm life together, I think I could be the one.

Best Friends is working to end the killing of dogs and cats in U.S. shelters in part by getting more pets out of shelters and into loving homes.

We’ve come a long way since the first known city reached no-kill in 1994, and now we’re closer than ever to making the entire country no-kill. Of the roughly 3,900 shelters operating in America today, 1,300 of them are not yet no-kill, but nearly half are close with 100 or fewer additional pets to be saved, and we know what to do to get them there.
