Fun, informative and adorable, the world’s largest cat-centric event also connects cats with adopters.

Every summer, thousands of cat lovers from across the globe come together in Pasadena, California, for CatCon, a two-day event that celebrates all things feline. For attendees, it’s a chance to talk to cat experts, shop for cat-themed items, and meet fellow cat lovers. It also provides cats and kittens from Best Friends with opportunities to be adopted.

The Best Friends team brought cats and kittens — all ready for new homes — from our partner shelters to fill the CatCon Adoption Village. At the end of the two-day event, 167 cats and kittens of every size, color and stripe had been adopted.

Best Friends’ goal is for all shelters and communities across the country to reach no-kill by 2025. Large-scale adoption events that make adoptions fun and easy for people are just one way to support shelters in reaching no-kill. Today all those cats and kittens who purred their way into new homes are settling into those new homes, where each day they can be properly adored by their own personal fans.

Our goal at Best Friends is to support all animal shelters in the U.S. in reaching no-kill by 2025. No-kill means saving every dog and cat in a shelter who can be saved, accounting for community safety and good quality of life for pets. Shelter staff can’t do it alone. Saving animals in shelters is everyone’s responsibility, and it takes support and participation from the community. No-kill is possible when we work together thoughtfully, honestly, and collaboratively.
