Protect Illinois shelters' right to rescue puppies

Success!

Thanks to your advocacy, this harmful provision was not enacted.

Illinois residents: Call your representative & ask them to OPPOSE HB 3056.

Illinois animal shelters and rescue groups are incredible resources that not only help the people and pets of Illinois, but expand beyond state lines carrying out lifesaving missions.

But that could change. As currently written, House Bill 3056 would amend the Illinois Animal Welfare Act to prohibit Illinois-based animal shelters and rescue groups from saving puppies across state lines.

Whether it's a simple transport request, natural disaster aid, or an animal cruelty/neglect case, HB 3056 would make it illegal to bring a young litter (less than 8 weeks old) to safety in Illinois.
