Reduce shelter crowding in Horry County
Success!
Great news! Thanks in part to messages from animals lovers like you, the Horry County Council has officially approved ordinance changes.

Urge the County Council to adopt lifesaving animal ordinance changes.
Those changes will:
- encourage adoption by stopping the import and retail sale of commercially bred dogs
- empower law enforcement to help pets who are in danger
- protect community cats by implementing humane population management methods (e.g., trap-neuter-return)
These changes will also save taxpayer dollars by reducing the number of animals held, cared for, and euthanized in the shelter.
THANK YOU to all who took part in this important effort! Council members approved the ordinance changes on November 16, 2021.
