How to Adopt from Our Kanab, Utah, Sanctuary
Thank you for choosing to adopt your new family member from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. We’re here to make your pet adoption process as easy as possible, and we'd be thrilled to help find the right match for you.
How to adopt
The first step in adopting an animal from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is to complete an online application so we can learn all about you. If you’ve already decided on a pet, please include his or her name in the application, which can be found on each pet’s profile page on this website. Even if you’re not sure yet about who you’d like to adopt, you can still fill out an application without specifying a pet’s name, and we will be happy to help you find the perfect match.
What happens after I apply?
After we learn more about you, we’ll be in touch to talk more about the animal you'd like to adopt. If you still haven’t decided, no worries. Our adoption specialists love playing matchmaker and are delighted to help.
Once you’ve decided, Best Friends will send you more information about your adopted pet. In some cases, a special-needs pet may require a formal introduction here at the Sanctuary so that you can get a good sense of the care required. In some cases, a Best Friends staffer or member might do a friendly home check. While home checks are not required for a typical adoption, they are sometimes necessary for animals with special requirements, to ensure that they have the best opportunity to thrive in their new homes.
The fun part: How do I pick up my new Best Friend?
We encourage you to come to the Sanctuary to meet the animals, especially if your new best friend has special needs; however, if coming to the Sanctuary isn’t necessary, Best Friends can assist in arranging a ride for them to your home. Our adoption specialists will let you know what works best for the pet you’re adopting. We will also discuss with you potential adoption or transportation fees.
Every animal adopted from Best Friends comes with our lifetime promise: If for any reason you can no longer care for your pet, he or she is always welcome to return to the Sanctuary.
