The Best Friends Visitor Center

The Best Friends Visitor Center, located in the heart of Kanab, is an interactive educational center for tourists to learn more about Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, our national programs and, of course, the animals. Folks will have the opportunity to sign up for Sanctuary tours, get information on volunteering, grab a tasty drink, and even meet a few adorable, adoptable pets! UPCOMING EVENTS AT VISITOR CENTER


Saturday, February 10th, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.: Annual Vaccine Clinic

Keep your dogs and cats happy and healthy- vaccinate! The Annual Best Friends Vaccine Clinic, partnered with Kanab Vet Hospital, will be taking place at the Best Friends Visitor Center IN TOWN. We are extremely excited to be able to provide this service to our community for another year. 

2018 Pricing for Vaccinations (cash or check only):
Dogs: 
- Rabies $5
- Distemper/Parvo $10
- Microchip $15
*All dogs must be leashed

Cats: 
- Rabies $5
- Feline Leukemia $10
- Distemper/leukemia combo $15
- Rabies/distemper/leukemia combo $20
- Microchip $15
*All cats must be in carrier

To ensure all community pets stay happy and healthy, Southwest Pet Assist will provide financial assistance to families in need. If you are unable to cover the cost of some or all vaccines, please notify us at time of arrival. 

There will be plenty of great freebies, including leashes, collars, treats, and pet sweaters. Kanab City licensing will be available at the event and we'll also be providing information about low cost spay/neuter services. 

**All dogs MUST be on a leash and all cats MUST be in a carrier. The Visitor Center is happy to provide you with collars, leashes, and cardboard carriers if you stop by in the days prior to the event.


Saturday, February 24th, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.: Some bunny wants to be your friend!

Meet adoptable bunnies and guinea pigs. And bring your own bunnies and guinea pigs in for a free spa day, including free nail trims and more! Your spayed or neutered bunny could also meet a new BFF (bunny friend forever).


Saturday, February 24th, 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.: Commitment Free Beekeeping

Doug Harper with UBEE will offer a presentation on where the European honey bee fits into the ecosystem of Kanab, the importance of good beekeeping, best practices, and why we need to protect native pollinators. We'll also be discussing the possibility of installing a thriving apiary on the grounds of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.


Every Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.: Kittens & Coffee

Join us for free coffee and free snuggles from adorable, adoptable kittens. Come for the buzz, stay for the fuzz!

Please be aware that this fun event could be canceled at anytime due to kitten adoptions or unpredictable circumstances. 

***THERE WILL BE NO KITTENS & COFFEE ON FEBRUARY 10TH DUE TO THE ANNUAL VACCINE CLINIC. 


Every Saturday, 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.: Sanctuary Puppy Socialization Class

Help us prepare Best Friends' puppies for their future! Puppies need to be socialized to the big wide world so that they won’t be afraid of new situations, objects, sounds, people and other animals. You can now help us socialize and train them at the Visitor Center in town! To reserve a spot, please go to bit.ly/VisitorCenterEvents and click on dates in orange to see availability.

No personal pets are allowed at this class; this is for Sanctuary puppies only. Must be 10 years or older to attend this class and if under 18 years old, a parent or guardian must attend as well. Please be aware that classes could be canceled at anytime due to adoptions or unpredictable circumstances. We will do our best to notify you immediately if this occurs. 

***THERE WILL BE NO PUPPY CLASS ON FEBRUARY 10TH DUE TO THE ANNUAL VACCINE CLINIC. 


Third Thursday of every month, 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.: Purrs & Poses (Yoga with Adoptable Cats)

Join us for a gentle yoga class and an opportunity to meet adoptable cats! Mats will be provided. Suggested donation of $10 will be gifted to the animals. Best Friends members and staff receive free entry. All ages are welcome! To reserve a spot, click here and use the calendar to select an appropriate date.

Second & fourth Thursday of every month, 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.: Ask-A-Trainer

The Dogtown Behavior Consultants from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary will choose a dog training or behavior topic or demonstration to focus on during each session. Dogtown Behavior Consultants use the most current scientific evidence supported relationship based training practices to help dogs get adopted. There will be plenty of time for Q&A session afterwards, so bring all your dog behavior and training related questions.
