The Best Friends Visitor Center

The Best Friends Visitor Center, located in the heart of Kanab, is an interactive educational center for tourists to learn more about Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, our national programs and, of course, the animals. Folks will have the opportunity to sign up for Sanctuary tours, get information on volunteering, grab a tasty drink, and even meet a few adorable, adoptable pets! Summer hours (March - October): Sunday - Wednesday, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. & Thursday - Saturday, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Winter hours (November - February): Closed Sundays/Mondays. Open Tuesday - Saturday, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. 


Every Friday, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.: Paint Your Pet's Portrait! 

Searching for an indoor activity to do? Or maybe you're looking for something new to do for date night or family night? For just $20 per person, you're provided with an 11x14 canvas, paints, brushes, and artist instruction. And no prior painting experience is needed! Just email to sign up.

Don't have a pet? No problem! Thumb through one of the many Best Friends' magazines to find an animal of your liking or email a web image to and we'll print it out for you.

Every Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.: Kittens & Coffee

Join us for free coffee and free snuggles from adorable, adoptable kittens. Come for the buzz, stay for the fuzz!

Please be aware that this fun event could be canceled at anytime due to kitten adoptions or unpredictable circumstances. 

Every Saturday, 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.: Sanctuary Puppy Socialization Class

Help us prepare Best Friends' puppies for their future! Puppies need to be socialized to the big wide world so that they won’t be afraid of new situations, objects, sounds, people and other animals. You can now help us socialize and train them at the Visitor Center in town! To reserve a spot, please go to // and click on dates in orange to see availability.

No personal pets are allowed at this class; this is for Sanctuary puppies only. Must be 10 years or older to attend this class and if under 18 years old, a parent or guardian must attend as well. Please be aware that classes could be canceled at anytime due to adoptions or unpredictable circumstances. We will do our best to notify you immediately if this occurs. 

First Saturday of every month, 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.: Bunny Yoga

Need a bunny fix? Best Friends Visitor Center in town invites you to a gentle yoga class and opportunity to meet a few adorable, adoptable Sanctuary bunnies. Just watch where you step! Mats will be provided if needed. Suggested donation of $10 will be gifted to Best Friends. Best Friends' members and staff receive free entry. All ages are welcome! Third Thursday of every month, 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.: Purrs & Poses (Yoga with Adoptable Cats)

Join us for a gentle yoga class and an opportunity to meet adoptable cats! Mats will be provided. Suggested donation of $10 will be gifted to the animals. Second & fourth Thursday of every month, 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.: Ask-A-Trainer

The Dogtown Behavior Consultants from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary will choose a dog training or behavior topic or demonstration to focus on during each session. Dogtown Behavior Consultants use the most current scientific evidence supported relationship based training practices to help dogs get adopted. There will be plenty of time for Q&A session afterwards, so bring all your dog behavior and training related questions.

Every other Saturday of the month, 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.: Parrot Talk 

Do you have a parrot or are you considering adopting one? Come hear from Jacque Johnson, Parrot Garden manager and parrot expert, to find out everything you need to know about owning a parrot. Each talk will cover a specific topic with plenty of time afterwards for Q&A.
